Opening Concerts Yiddish Summer Weimar 2008

Yiddish Summer 2008 opens on July 10 and 11 with world-class concerts by two new bands created specially for the project "The Other Europeans"; a klezmer octet directed by Alan Bern, and a Roma sextet directed by cymbalom virtuoso Kalman Balogh.

In concert: Di Naye Kapelye (Budapest)

Formed in 1993, Di Naye Kapelye plays regional Jewish music from Hungary and Romania as learned from the last practioners of klezmer during the 20th century. Di Naye Kapleye have several releases avaialbale on the Berlin based Oriente label, including their latest, “A Mazeldiker Yid”.
